The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notice in a plea seeking establishment of COVID-19 care centre having at least 100 beds with ICU and Ventilator facility for public prosecutors and staff of Delhi Prosecution Department and their family members.

A division bench comprising of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice in the plea filed by one Dishank Dhawan stating that the public prosecutors and other staff of the prosecution department have been risking exposure to covid 19 virus everyday but are still serving the State, as an important component of the criminal justice system, with utmost dedication and sincerity.

Stating that there is an environment of anguish and pain all over the country owing to the lack of necessary resources, the plea avers that many Public Prosecutors were unable to secure beds in hospitals of Delhi and had to move at far flung places for the purpose of treatment.

The Court will now hear the matter next on 4th June 2021.
