A former aide to the ex-governor of Adamawa State, Salihu Yahaya, has been arraigned before Upper Area Court III in Yola, for allegedly calling his former wife, Maryam Tabah, an adulterer.

Yahaya, who was the chief protocol to former governor of the state, Boni Haruna, is facing charges for criminal defamation of his wife, Maryam Tabah, who dragged him before a Yola Upper Area court, presided by Honourable Umar Isa, made a no-guilty submission through his counsel.

Maryam Tabah had informed the court that her ex-husband after their separation had gone to town, telling anyone who cares to listen to him that he divorced her because of her alleged adulterous habit.

Court summons showed the marriage between the former governor’s aide was dissolved on January 4, 2021, and that without any legal jurisdiction, he called her friend, Sa’a Luka, informing her that he divorced her friend on grounds of infidelity.

Maryam Tabah told the court that the conduct of her former husband amounted to defamation of character punishable under section 378 of the Penal Code of Adamawa.
