Lawyers protest in Lagos, Abuja over Judicial autonomy



Members of the Nigerian Bar Association protested against the non-implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary in Lagos State and Abuja on Monday.

This is coming after members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria went on strike and threatened a nationwide protest.

Law TV reports that the National President of NBA, Olumide Akpata, had asked all state branches to stage a protest on Monday.

During the protest in Lagos, the lawyers displayed placards with various inscriptions as they marched from Ikeja Bar Centre through Oba Akinjobi, into Obafemi Awolowo Way towards the Alausa secretariat.
